Solihull College worked with four engineering employers: The Buckingham Group, Capita, JS Wright, and Cundall, to update the curriculum to make it relevant to current employment practice. Teach Too principles were used to underpin curriculum development to improve learning for apprentices in the workplace and emphasise the use of new technology. With a focus on developing teachers’ and employers’ expertise, the college engaged with employer partners for the first time. As a result, the understanding of progression routes was enhanced and employers could access more opportunities to recruit apprentices. Employers have also gained a deeper understanding of teaching and related skills needed to support apprentices, while lecturers ensured their teaching and learning was informed by up-to-date knowledge.
